PointerDeck Receiver for Mac

The receiver is the small Mac app that accepts trackpad commands from your iPhone or iPad. It is required, free, and does not add an account or subscription.

Verified release: version 1.0 (build 1), Developer ID signed, notarized by Apple, and stapled. The app inside the ZIP passes Gatekeeper and signature checks after extraction.

Requirements

macOS 14 or later.
Apple silicon or Intel Mac.
Same local network as the iPhone or iPad.
Accessibility permission for pointer movement, clicks, drags, and scrolling.

Installation

Download the versioned receiver from this HTTPS page.
Optional integrity check: verify the filename and SHA-256 shown below.
Open the ZIP, move PointerDeck Receiver to the Applications folder, and open it normally. Do not bypass Gatekeeper.
Open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility and allow the exact PointerDeck Receiver copy in Applications.
Create an 8–12 digit Connection PIN with at least five different digits. Repeated and sequential patterns are rejected. Choose Add Device, then pair from PointerDeck on the iPhone or iPad while the window is open for up to two minutes.

Why Accessibility is needed

macOS requires this permission before an app can post pointer, click, drag, and scroll events. PointerDeck Receiver does not use that permission to stream or display the Mac screen. If permission is denied, the receiver should remain available as a setup/status screen and explain how to return to System Settings.

Connection model

Controller traffic is encrypted on the local network. The Connection PIN is accepted only while the Mac owner opens Add Device, and failed pairing attempts are bounded while that window is open. After pairing, a separate trusted-device credential stored in Keychain supports later reconnection. The numeric PIN design is not described as unbreakable or universally secure.
